An LCA Conversation about Attainable Housing Supply Initiative (AHSI) with Key Policymakers

This LCA conversation, focused on the concerns of the residents of Luxmanor, Windermere and the Oaks, will feature presentations and discussion about AHSI. Learn more from Lisa Govani ,Planning Board analyst, Commissioner James Hedrick and our Montgomery County Council member Kate Stewart, who was just elected to Council President. This is an opportunity to ask questions and share your thoughts succinctly about the Planning Board proposal and the possibility of upcoming legislation before the Council next year.

The proposal would include changes of zoning in communities like ours to allow housing such as duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes in plots currently designated for single family home to address the “missing middle” of attainable (different than affordable) housing supply.

We are interested in a respectful discussion focused on the impact of the proposal and thoughts from our community. Please join us with your questions and thoughts. There currently is no AHSI legislation introduced.

For further information contact svplotnick12@gmail.com or Abbe Milstein, LCA Zoning and Development Chair (3magmom@gmail.com).

Let’s Make Our Neighborhood More Environmentally Friendly!

Are you interested in learning what we can do to help our yards and community support nature? Here are links to a couple of videos featuring Dr. Doug Tallamy, an entomologist at the University of Delaware and a leader in promoting ways we can help the ecosystem by becoming part of what he calls the Homegrown National Park. Both of them are appropriate for the entire family, entertaining and visually striking.

If this interests you, contact Barbara Blaylock at b.blaylock@verizon.net to join a group of neighbors interested in educating ourselves, encouraging each other, and figuring out what we can do in our own yards and in our community spaces to help. Among other things, at least some of us would like to involve neighborhood kids in learning more about nature and this is a good way to start.

Please Keep Dogs on Leash!

Reminder to all residents and guests, dogs must be leashed at all times, no exceptions.

Last week there was an incident at the clubhouse where a dog off leash bit a dog that was on leash. Dogs must be leashed when off the owner’s premises, according to Montgomery County law. Please use the dog park at Cabin John Park for off leash exercise.
